Adopt a Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Sometimes in rescue you see a dog whose situation shakes you to your core. That's what happened when our rescue partners in Chesterfield SC posted an urgent plea for Sweet Minnie.


911**** plea Minnie 17-0373 heartworm positive lab 10 plus years.Our volunteers and staff have been trying to catch her for 2 years. She has had a horrible life. Multiple litters.Injured back leg.Failed by humans multiple times.Scared of everything not vicious.She going to have babies any minute.We

 need to get her out of the shelter ASAP.Being treated by Vet as we speak. RESCUE ONLY. She cowers away hides her face .She lets you touch her but has trust issues.Never tried to bite staff.This lady needs a break please help get her out of here. 

 Minnie arrived in PA yesterday and is safe in foster awaiting the birth of her babies, fortunately her foster mom and dad are both nurses! Xrays revealed buck shot in her hind. She cannot bear weight on her rt. rear leg and probably hasn't for some time as the muscles have atrophied. Minnie will likely need an amputation at some point as well as heartworm treatment. It was a very tough decision to allow Minnie to give birth but she is so close to delivery that if just wouldn't be right to abort. For now we are asking for positive thoughts that this girl has a safe delivery and healthy babies.

Minnie has seen all of her babies find their forever homes, now it is her turn. She is under going her heartworm treatment. She is feeling much better these days and has use of her back leg. She is timid of new people but since she spent much time on the streets this is not surprising. She needs someone to show her the love she has been missing for so long.

Minnie has completed her heartworm treatment and all went well. She is feeling good these days and enjoying life off the streets and in a loving foster home. She has come a long way since coming into the rescue but she still needs time to warm up to new people but medically she is improving everyday.
